Of the many submissions received from all over India, thirty biotechnology companies were short-listed in the ‘Bio-Accelerate’ Live Business Plan competition, of which six finalists were selected to present their ideas. The winning business plan presented by Mir Lifescience was based on a novel test for screening of oral cancer.

Mir Lifescience is currently developing a panel of biomarkers that are combined together in a robust test known as ‘OncoSense’, to enable oncologists make life-saving decisions in choosing the right combination of drugs for an individual cancer patient. Towards the end of 2014, Oncosense for ovarian cancer will be launched in India. A saliva-based test that will serve as a screening procedure for high-risk, oral cancer patients is also in the offing. Mir Lifescience plans to launch several first-of-a-kind tests in India at a price that is affordable to most cancer patients.
