Live Business Plan competition held recently as part of the Bangalore INDIA BIO 2014 conference. Dr. Charusheila Ramkumar (MBBS, Ph.D), Chief Scientist of Mir Lifescience, who made the presentation on behalf of the company received the first prize, which includes a cash award of Rs.3 Lakhs and 50% rebate on rent at the bioincubation centre, from Shri S.R. Of the many submissions received from all over India, thirty biotechnology companies were short-listed in the ?Bio-Accelerate? Live Business Plan competition, of which six finalists were selected to present their ideas. The winning business plan presented by Mir Lifescience was based on a novel test for screening of oral cancer.

Mir Lifescience is currently developing a panel of biomarkers that are combined together in a robust test known as ?OncoSense?, to enable oncologists make life-saving decisions in choosing the right combination of drugs for an individual cancer patient. Towards the end of 2014, Oncosense for ovarian cancer will be launched in India. A saliva-based test that will serve as a screening procedure for high-risk, oral cancer patients is also in the offing. Mir Lifescience plans to launch several first-of-a-kind tests in India at a price that is affordable to most cancer patients.
